An 8-GHz VCO with class-F23 operation was realized in a 40 nm CMOS technology without ultra-thick metals. The enabled transformer-based LC tank to allow multiple impedance peaks the common mode (CM) and differential (DM) excitation. With additional resonance at $2^{nd}$ notation="LaTeX">$3^{rd}$ harmonic frequency, circuit noise phase-noise conversion 1/f up-conversion are reduced significantly. In metal, patterned shielding structure proposed improve inductor quality factor. A combined varactor capacitor array is provide accurate matching for desired frequency ratio, reducing AM-FM it achieves broad tuning range. bank operation, oscillator phase of −150.8 dBc/Hz 10 MHz offset from 1.85 GHz carrier after an on-chip /4 divider, measured 1/f3 flicker corner around 400 kHz. core covers 7.5–9.4 range 25%
